Our central Pennsylvania client hired us to solve the never ending problem of missing or loose caps covering toilet bolts. Having just experienced this problem himself, one of Davison Design and Development's Inventionmen™ quickly related to the project. Through Davison Design and Development's exclusive Inventegration® process, the team found that most caps are designed to snap on the toilet; however, once the bolt cap became loose or removed, it was nearly impossible to fasten it tight enough to prevent it from detaching from the toilet.
Davison's Inventionmen research found two standard size bolts that fit all toilets, 1/4" or 5/16". Because most consumers don't know what size toilet bolt they have, Davison Design and Development's Inventionmen designed one cap to fit both sizes by employing a plastic insert threaded into the cap. They also accounted for the different heights of bolts, designing the cap with a long thread cylinder. This design accomplished several goals, including a simple injection-molded manufacturing process, ease of use for the consumer and minimal waste in production cost. And of course, once you screw them on, they'll never fall off.
Davison Design and Development's Inventionmen then created another spin on the product by adding bolts to the package. So, when remodeling or building a home, or even replacing their toilet, the provided bolts and caps will screw directly onto the new bolts.
